It is our intention to travel up the East Yorkshire coast and up into Scotland as far as Edinburgh.? |
Travel Info We would like to make stops on the way at good places for lunch and then overnight, any suggestions as to towns/villages that are pretty and scenic, and places for lunch stops?? No stupid replies, dont waste your own time or mine. Travel Tips Runswick Bay is gorgeous and definitely worth a visit. It's about 8 miles out of Whitby, which I assume you'll be visiting! Whitby has some of the best fish and chips in the UK - go to the Magpie Cafe for a real treat: http://www.magpiecafe.co.uk/ Runswick doesn't have much in the way of restaurants, although the Cliff Hotel at the top of the cliff does fairly good grub. Or you could have a picnic on the beach - it's a stunningly pretty little village - I'd definitely recommend stopping there. http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=runs... Others stay at the amble arm in amble verry good food You will be travelling near one of the most scenic coastlines in England, the Northumbrian coast. Lots of castles to look at. Whitby is really nice. Don't forget to visit Lindisfarne island, check the tide tables as you can only get accross at low tide. You dont say how you are travelling where exactly you are starting from but presuming its London - use the A1 or GNER if by train. 1. Peterborough for its Cathedral. have a coffee at Costa too. 2. York next - visit the incredible railway museum. Have lunch or tea at "Bettys", its great. 3. Overnight in Alnwick in Northumberland and see the castle used in Harry Potter. |
