Travel Info Which city park is the Sam Dickson memorial in Edmonton? Travel Tips Technically there isn't a memorial for Sam Dickson in any Edmonton park. Sam Dickson was part of a delegation of the Northern Pioneers and Old Timers association who decided to take an interest after WW2 in Fort Edmonton park as a viable memorial to the city of Edmonton. He along with others spoke to Premier Manning about the idea but it wasn't until 18 years later anything was done about it. Sam Dickson in the 1915 - 1916 Rotary year helped establish Edmonton's first Rotary Club in the city. So while not an actual memorial one could say that Fort Edmonton Park owes it's conception in part to Sam Dickson.
