What's the best way to drive from Edmonton to Toronto with a U-Haul?

Does it involve going through Chicago? Or through northern Michigan? Straight south to Montana? Or just staying in Canada all the way? Is it a problem crossing the U.S. border with a U-Haul full of junk?

I would stay in Canada so you don't have to deal with the border crossings. If you do cross and come back you need to have proof that all the "junk" you have with you was purchased in Canada so you do not have to pay tax.

When we did the trip, we drove all the way to Winnipeg then turned south into the States and came back up through the Sault. Over to Sudbury and south to TO. It was a good way to come. Lots more to see then going north through Thuder Bay. I can't answer your question about the U-Haul full of junk though.
