Travel Info My family and I are planning a trip out West, what should we do when we stop in Edmonton? Travel Tips One guy said go see a hockey game?? Are you clueless, hockey season was over three weeks ago. It's the dead of summer. Klondike Days is taking place in Edmonton in two weeks. It's a big fair, with trade shows, rides, food, and chuckwagon races at night. There is West Edmonton Mall, but that gets very boring after a while. If you want a true western experience, then drive out to Jasper and then south to Banff. Experience the Rockies, it's something that will just blow your mind. It's absolutely beautiful. To be honest, there is little to do in Edmonton. That's why so many people call it Deadmonton Others go see a hockey game current #2 team Go to Whyte Ave and shop. Theres really cool shops down that way, or if you're into more of a commerical shopping location, go to West Edmonton Mall. Come down to calgary, there is more to do here!! lol It all depends on when you come. Present events = street performers' festival, Shakespeare Festival; upcoming is Capital Ex (former Klondike Days), Dragon Boats, Edmonton Grand Prix (vroom vroom); Heritage Days (big food fest), A Taste of Edmonton, Folk Festival, Cariwest, go fringeing at the Fringe, and on, and on, and on.
