Is Edmonton dangerous? |
Travel Info Ive been researching some stuff on edmonton and now Im starting to get worried. Ive found many articles that say that the murder rate is the highest in canada. Now Im starting to wonder if I made the right choice in enrolling at the U of A. Travel Tips Where are you moving from? Yes, there are crimes and murders here, but when you compare it to many other places it is considered very low. When I first moved to New Orleans from Edmonton, I was reading the paper and they said New Orleans would probably hit 300 murders by the end of the year. That was about a month before Katrina though. Compare that to Edmonton which was about 32 murders last year. Most murders here are isolated incidents, they are not many random murders. U of A is a fantastic school. Edmonton is a great city, you have no need to worry. When are you moving? Others They have a great police force in Edmonton. I was there not long ago and felt completely safe. When you start college, find some locals and ask where the not-so-safe areas are and then avoid. Edmonton is beautiful and I am envious that you are going to have four great years there. Good luck, sweetie, study hard and play harder!! My husband used to live in Edmonton, he only moved because of the weather....but wherever you go there's always a crime. and yah...you made the right choice of enrolling at the U of A. |
