What is the downtown area of edmonton canada like? |
Travel Info Im gonna study there and Im looking for an apartment. I found one around 107 st and 97 st. WHat is that area like? I mean, is it dangerous, public transport, grocery etc. Travel Tips 107Ave at 97 St. > not your best choice I'm afraid - 97 St. is quite notorious for hookers and seedy characters. If you haven't signed a lease you may want to reconsider. You don't say where you're going to be studying. If it's the U of A find a map and try to find something on the west side of 100 st and south of 102 Ave. The area to the east of 100 St (the numbers get smaller) while having some newer condo buildings is still mostly older apartment buildings which don't exactly have a sterling reputation (at least a lot of them) That particular area has a lot of gang activity, drug houses and prostitutes. The city wants to start cleaning up that portion of the city but it will take time. There are so many apartment buildings on the west said of city centre that you're sure to find something a little safer hopefully. If you're going to be attending Nait them look in the Queen Mary/Oliver areas for apartments. I should tell you that the downtown area is vibrant with shops, office towers, the mall and U of A extension, grocery stores and every restaurant you could want. Everything you'll need is mostly available within walking distance. Hope this helps. Good Luck. Others I didnt see much nice in Edmonton.. was there in the spring.. big snow storm.. seems like the crime rate is kinda high. I would probably look more carefully into the neighbourhood you choose real cold sometimes. but otherwise good Lots of young thugs shooting and killing each other and sometimes strangers too. You've got to be careful where you go. |
