Accomodation at edmonton for 2 to 3 weeks? |
Travel Info im planning on a course in edmonton for 2 to 3 weeks... and im looking for an accomodations for cheap rates and prefer seperate rooms !! can some body help me ? Travel Tips There is a Econo Lodge on 108th St, and if I amnot mistaken there is the YMCA on 101st, it was there the last time I was there, there are some smaller motels in the burbs, if your renting a car, depending on the time of year even a bus pass is a good idea. Source(s): http://www.econolodgeedm.com/default.asp... Other Travel Tips Two cheap options might be the YMCA downtown - if your course is at the university you can easily get there with LRT (light rail). Another option might be the Hostel on Whyte Ave - it's within walking distance of the university plus it's the trendiest area of the city with tons to do as far as shipping, clubbing, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Try to remember that the vacancy rate here is at the 1% mark so anything that's rentable is pretty much rented. You could also check with some of the motels along Gateway Blvd (the main road leading in Edmonton) and see if they have any reasonable rates - some come with kitchenettes to save on eating out. The idea is to figure on a map where the course is held - if it's at the university you'll find it a lot easier. Next look on the net and search out motels (forget about hotels as they'll be fairly expensive) that are located in the same area and email. or call them for rates. If your course is in the NE or NC sections of the city then you may have a problem - fewer motels/hotels and the lots of less than desirable areas to contend with. Your best option then would be they "Y" and hope they have room available. You need to provide more details especially as to where your course will be held. Hope this helps some at least. Edmonton is a great city, but I've had some bad experiences with several motels and hotels. So be careful. Do your research. (And watch where you park - they have the most efficient parking ticket officers I've ever run into.) Anyway, there are a few B&Bs you could try. Also, it's a big enough city that you should either get a room near your course, or on good transit route. Since all routes lead to The Mall (okay, not all), a room out there might be more convenient then it seems. http://bbcanada.com/alberta/edmonton_are... http://www.tripadvisor.com/hotels-g15491... http://www.edmonton.ca/portal/server.pt... both the university of Alberta and grant mac Ewan have student residences so if your course is at one of them then they'd be a good place to start: they're close and generally not too expensive and there are always places to wind down after studying nearby as well as shops and restaurants U of A :http://www.uofaweb.ualberta.ca/residence...
