What exactly created this gap??

Travel Info
In ur opinion, what is the reason behind the social classes "gap" in Egypt nowadays?
i mean Egypt became divided into POOR and RICH, the middle class is diminishing, what do u think created that?
i know there are still many middle class people like many of us here but, the number is increasing.
people who are not that rich are becoming poorer and trying to survive, while rich people are rapidly becoming extremely rich.
i dont mean to sterotype, but i'm only talking about the noticable majority.

p.s: by "social class" i mean financially, not education, looks, lifestyle....etc

I believe there are a number of reasons behind this:

1-Bad economical decisions taken by the Egyptian officials.
2- The fact that nobody "answers" to nobody.
3 - Centralization.
If you want to, here is my detailed explanation of the points I mentioned above.

1- Wrong economic decisions:
I am going to give you clear examples - A- "Tushki". In 1997, this major project was launched with huge celebration from the media. A gigantic amount of money was spent with the idea that in 2002 this project will take Egypt from poverty to luxury and we will be a first-world country.
Where the hell is Tushki now ?? Where is all the money that they spent on it ? Last time I heard about it, a large portion of the land was sold to a Saudi investor.

-B- "China products". I am sure that you have seen dozens of products in Egypt that were manufactured in China. My question here is "Why does the government allow this flood of products?".What the government can do is: Either "prevent" these products or "impose huge taxes" . Can the government impose taxes ?? Yes it can. Pay attention to the prices of cars, all the cars in Egypt are imported and they are double the price they are sold with in their countries of origin. "Why does the government have to impose taxes on Chinese products"? The answer is "To protect the the national industry" . Thousands of small factories are closing now all over Egypt because they can't compete with Chinese prices. Why ? because of the huge taxes that they have to pay for the government , and because China is a commuinst country. Most of the people there are being underpaid and they have no ambition in life. Chinese workers don't enjoy the fruits of what they are working for, they don't even know that their products are sold all over the world. As for Egypt, THE ONLY ONE WHO BENEFITS FROM IMPORTING CHINESE PRODUCTS IS THE "IMPORTER" . He makes tons of money on the account of thousands of small factories that close and workers that lose their jobs.

2- The fact that nobody answers to nobody
I am not a Cairian, but I am sure a large number of Cairians have seen the "multi-storey- parking area" that was built in Ramses square. It was built , then it was demolished again because the officials realized that it will harm the aesthetic overview of the area. According to Al-Ahram newspaper 25 million pounds was spent in building it and 5 on demolishing it. ???? Now , didn't they know that it was going to look ugly before building it ? and after u built it, shouldn't u keep it cuz u spent tons of money on it ? . My main question here is " Do u think anybody will be blamed for this ?." another questions is " Wasn't it better if the government gave this money to no less than a thousand Egyptian guys to help them to get married "?

3- Centralization:
This point is very close and connected to the previous one. Absloutely all the decisions that are directly connected to the safety and well-being of Egypt is in the hands of Mubarak. An 85 year old idiot. And even if he wasn't an idiot, nobody can handle all this business alone. Look at the American model. The governor of each state is responsible for making decisions related to his state. The governor is "truely" the president of his own state.
Now , compare that to Egypt. The governors are merely toys for the president to play with. Every 2 years he feels bored and he wants to do something he goes "let's play governors" .He sits with his sons, and they hold the dice and start playing. Anyways, in my governorate, Ismailia, we have witnessed 6 governors in the past 10 years. All of them were "not " from Ismailia. Here is what happens 1- They come 2- They take no less than a year to familiarize themselves with the place 3- They go!!!!!
Another point in that regard is the fact that the Prime Ministers don't answer to the people. They answer to the President. So if the econmy is bad, he changes Kamal El Ganzoury, then Atef Ebeed, the Nazeef. Duhh???? why should we care abt all that ? They r not the ones who r to blame. it is the president.

I believe that decentralization should be adopted in all fields of life in Egypt. There should be states. And on smaller scales, every official should be responsible for his own part of the work. I mean by that for example that School Principals should take decisions that matter to their schools. "I can explain the importance of this move- "decentralization"- but this is not the main theme of the question. This would be done except for the fact that nobody trusts anybody in Egypt, and u need trust to let anybody be responsible for his own part of the work.

Others
i think its really hard to go up from middle class to becoming rich while life itself is becoming more expensive which make the middle class feel that they are becoming poor .....but with a good education good jobs are plentiful so its a ticket to stay on top of your financial situation and move up the ladder

Irresponsibility
