Not a fair play. Have you noticed...?

Have you noticed how fast some people climb to the top of the best answers list? For example, Maro's mum climbs very fast, but if you look at her best answers, you will find that most of them are chosen by "voters", but somehow they tend to have exactly 3 votes each. Also, "voters" have chosen some of her answers like "I think XY gave you the best answer" as the best one?! I mean, why then haven't they chosen his answer? And how could they know what was XY answer when while a question is open for voting you cannot see people's nickname? Finally, guess what? This answer has also been chosen with 3 votes.

P.S. Don鈥檛 look for XY exactly, I just used this as a symbol. But you will find this type of answer very easily.

Hehe. Yeah. That used to piss me off at the beginning especially when I see people being picked as best answers when all what they said was " I agree with xy at most of what he said". Which makes me wonder; why the hell didn't they pick xy then ?

But as the previous answerers said; it is not like we're getting money for it. So it is no big deal.
I take it as sort of symbolism for my real life. I usually do stuff for other people but I never get noticed. Like in classes, when i was young, whenever the teacher would ask something, I would hesitantly whisper the answer to myself cuz I am so shy, then another student would say it out loud and get praised by the teacher.
Hehe, u remeber that Brady bunch movie? When the unattractive girl would say something, then everybody would say "nah, that's not a good idea", but when the pretty one would say exactly the same thing , they would say " excellent idea . Amazing thinking"
But this doesn't happen any more. I no longer come up with good ideas or answers. All my answers r usually crap. That's why I am climbing down the chart rather than up. See I have to be different.

I just wanna say something. I think Maro's mom is innocent of the charge. She is a nice woman. She has kids to support. Please don't harm her. If it is not for her, then for her little baby. Let her live for the sake of humanity.

I see this very often on Yahoo Answers and not only on Egypt category.
There are obviously some people who think it's a competition and seek different ways to try to win as much points as they can. And I also think there are other people who think they can use Yahoo Answers as a method of complementing others through always giving them thumbs up or voting for their answers, just the same as there are other cases where there are people who would follow you around to give you thumbs down regardless of how good/bad your answer is.
I think of it as an immature behavior which is worthless of giving much attention to. You are right, it can be provoking, but you can't change people and disclosing them will probably make no difference, so just ignore it and continue answering where you think you can offer help, for the sake of those around here who are sincere and really need info.
it's not a play it's just a place to try to find some answeres in and the points are for the sake of fun only so don't look at the fun part look at the main part is yahoo answeres giving you all the answeres u need or not ?

I have noticed and experienced, quite a bit of" not fair play" on this site, unfortunately.
But not in the area you mentioned.It is quite obvious that there are people out there who have several identities and user names.
I have been on this site for 5months now, and have never sent a report notice or bothered giving thumbs down to someone, until the past 3 weeks.
For this reason.When cheating is so blatantly done, it is ignorant and it offends me.
But as you say should we really care? We are not playing for awards.
That is my usual approach to those advertising, and those with questionable multiple ids.
But I was pushed to far by one person.
I only answer a question to help with info if I can,make some suggestions to queries if I can,etc.
But it is up to the questioner, whether they even bother to read my answer.
Other answerer's are free to think whatever they like about my answer.
But it doesn't effect or change my mind about the reply I have given.As it wasn't for them, it was directed to the questioner.
However, I do think its pretty bad that people ask questions, saying Pleeeze help! I need an answer by tomorrow rah, rah, rah, etc.
Then,they haven't the courtesy to even vote,on which answer they think the best.
As a non Egyptian I have even received emails saying I should stay off the Egypt section,as I am not Egyptian.????
What do I do about them,do my best to ignore them.I have been told I am not wanted etc.
Then I was told many of the people on the site are just 15-16 ,so its just kids being kids I guess.
Yes,I am guilty,I emailed another site user for an opinion, as they always have appeared mature in their responses.
It is not a social club, it involves questions about Egyptian holiday's travel,its history,culture and society.
As an Australian who spends at least 4mths a year there, and will be moving to Egypt to live. As soon as I finish a degree in Egyptology at University,and will marry an Egyptian.
I feel am just as entitled to answer questions, as anyone who was born and bred in Downtown, Cairo.
Sorry,for the outburst. But I just had to get all that out.
This is not the place to begin playing politics.
Lets all try and keep it a bit lighthearted and not take it all so serious.
Least that is what I plan on doing!

I don't feel this site is a place to create factions and play people against the other. We are all here to enjoy.
I felt I was beginning to get a bit"political "with my answer.
Politics= ,the people. by definition.
I sometimes notice, yes, but i don't really give a damn.

And to Sistablu why did your sentence "This is not the place to begin playing politics." seemed to me out of context and came out of the blue!?

I don't name anyone, but it's true there are many games and people who has more than a user. I noticed that when I put questions in Politics, Military sections. I can realize some identities try to show a certain opinion related to USA for example while the question is for Americans.
It happened also in Egypt section sometimes.

For Sistablu : I think you can understand Egyptians enough to know that we all welcome you. Myself I consider you more than 50% Egyptian as you know our roots with some specialized details. Only (certain people) always feels uncomfortable when others around the world love Egypt and speak nicely about it like you.
yes this is non fair sure,but u can open a new account on yahoo and then rate the old account to be the best, it is easy.
but yahoo answers not a competition it is a way for knowledge and communicate with others, take it like this
