Are they reburying the sphinx in 2010?

Travel Info
I am told the only way to preserve the sphinx is to cover it with sand again which they plan to do in 2010, if this is correct then you need to see it soon or it may not be seen again in our lifetime. Is this correct?

Travel Tips
are you working for the tourist board,
the spinx was coverd with 3000 years of sand movement, so why would thy recover it with sand, when its sand that does the damage, what they might do is build a wall all the way around it and cover it to make it look as if its in amuseum, Source(s): myegypt.co.uk

Other Travel Tips
I haven't heard this but I am off to Cairo in May so I shall see it then!
Hmm, they'd be better off covering the Sphinx with a large glass canopy, so everyone can see it and it would be protected from wind and water based errosion. If they bury it, its gonna be dug back up sooner than anyone would expect.
It might be just a ruse to create a sudden urgency for people to visit Egypt - good for tourism! And then in 2009 they will say that they won't bury it after all. It is being eroded by wind and sand damage but what's wrong with good old fashioned restoration? What's the point preserving it in the sand if no one can see it?
I have heard that the only way to preserve the sphinx would be to cover it up with sand, aside from building a giant glass box around it. But, as for the date2010, I haven't heard anything. However, considering the amount of air polution over and around Cairo it wouldn't surprise me one bit. It's so bad that you can't even see the city through the layer of polution when you fly over. For those planning on going to see it. Might I recommend the night time laser show and eating at the Pizza Hut/KFC across the street after wards. It makes me a little sad that there actually is a Pizza Hut across the street from the only remaining wonder of the ancient world.
Been there.
