Definitions of the names Sofian + Wael (pls. excuse the spelling)? |
Travel Info Am going to give birth and decided upon one of the 2 names (either wael/sofian) and the arabs I've met here in the houston area aren't familiar w/ the names meanings...no, am not following the tradition of naming the child after the father, I think there are enough people in egypt w/ his name of ahmed. Plus I'll tack on a giovanni +/franco middle name to it--difficult to find ANY italian name that flows well w/ an arab name. anyway, that's life. So if someone can tell me the names meanings or come up w/ an arab-italian name mixture that sounds ok to you, all the more power to you =) thanks in advance. Ever heard of an Arab named Franky/giovanni? Hee-hee, well there might be one. Travel Tips The meaning of name Sofian we can say scholar or philosopher etc. Wael, I am not sure. Others My bro's name is Wael and it means "a person who cries alot". Let me tell me though that people will have a hard time saying the name. My bro goes by "Will" but most people think his real name is William. Why do u have to name him an arabic name? Arabic names are hard to pronounce most of the time. Plus u don't want other kids in school to make fun of him. Just give him a simple nice name that he won't hate for the rest of his life. I looked up the name Sofian, it means "devoted" The name Wael is used much in Egypt also, Sofian is an old Arab name which sounds strange to be used now. In Egypt it reminds us of the old wars when Muslims were trying to protect their religion. I don't know the meaning of the name itself, but I told you about what comes to mind when we hear Sofian. The mixture you need, I can't understand it well, but I know an Egyptian called Romel. There are some names that can be Arab-Italian, but it's not accepted by Muslims. I will suggest you good Arabic names with good meanings and doesn't contain the difficult Arabic letters.
