How are american women viewed/treated in Egypt? |
Travel Info I have met an egyptian man (he is 28, I am 27) online and we have been talking for 4 monthes now and he wants me to come to Cairo. He says he loves me but I am very skeptical (terrified) about coming there? I was hoping someone could shed some light on how american women are treated or what I can expect upon arriving there. I trust him completely I am just affraid to travel so far all alone. Travel Tips Oh God. Please don't do it. PLEASE Firstly I'm an Arab-American, so I know Arab men well. It's been my experience (and friend's of mine as well), that Arab toss the word "love" around ike CRAZY. Every Arabic song if evidence to that. I'm not saying he's a bad person...but I would bet you about a million dollars he's not as serious as even HE thinks he is. Don't trust his feelings. I know you're enjoying this, but just keep it friendly for now. I'd hate for you to go all the way to Egypt just to be dissappointed. I've had similar relationships and they NEVER work out. If you plan on going to Egypt, you'll likely have a great time as a tourist, but I would NOT go alone. Western women travelling alone are walking targets in the Middle East...you'll be eye-balled, hit-on and targetted to be ripped off, trust me. E-mail me if you have any questions. And the person who commented on him wanting sex...I guarentee he wants sex; Egypt is not like the US where people meet and date and sleep together. Arab men are not socialized to DATE, they are socialized to get married. Others never be far from comming to egypt it is very safe and if u trust him go never mind u will enjoy ur time there more than u think go ahead egypt is nice All I can say is be careful. I'm sorry but how can you love someone you have only talked to for four months and have never met. Just make sure all he doesn't want out of you is a visa to go to the US. American living in Egypt You have every reason to be terrified.. Do NOT go to Egypt to be with a man.. Do not go to any 3rd world country to be with a man... Have you not heard enough horror stories about women going to Mid Eastern nations with men / husbands ? I have travelled extensively in that part of the world. This guy could be after your money or just sex. I have met a few European women who have married Egyptian men but it never seems to last. Be very very careful. What religion is he? To answer your main question. In my experience, Western women are treated very badly. I travelled through Egypt with a group of 5 women. We received nothing but abuse from Egyptian men. I'm not saying all Egyptian men are like that but all the ones I met were. They basically treated the women like they were prostitutes or something. An Egyptian man walked up to my 17 year old niece and asked her "How much for sex". She was walking through a market with me. When I told him how rude he was being he threatened to kill me. What more can I say... hi,how you can trust someone you did not see,maybe he is good man, maybe not. first Egypt is very safe country but you should make the reservation throw any establishment hotel,or travel agency. Concerning Egypt do not worry at all as we are toursit country and we have 6 milion every year and specially that you are American women you will get more attention in the hotel where i am working when we have american guest they are obseved by convoy http://www.minamar.com/ |
