Christian celebrations in Egypt? |
Travel Info I know that most of the people living in Egypt are Muslims, but I know that there are Christians living in Egypt too. How do Christians celebrate Easter and the Holy Week in Egypt? Travel Tips Christian celebrations or feast is a National holiday in Egypt. All Egyptians including muslims take a break. Have no doubt that christians even though they are only 5% of the population are taking their full rights in Egypt including jobs, health services, education ... etc. Don't listen to the media in the US or wherever you are because they have their own agenda & want to spread a certain picture. And by the way, since the government is not perfect if they persecute anyone it's because of political reasons & not because they are christians, you'll find that most of the people harmed muslims since they are the majority of the population. That's a good question & I hope you spread the right ideas where you live. There are no conflicts between muslims & christians in Egypt but rather between the whole population & the government. Mazzy Source(s): Life Other Travel Tips why not? i mean, Christian Celebrations as significant as these cannot be isolated in a certain place where it is believed forbidden. for me, it's a matter of the heart. so, one could be in a prison cell, or hospital bed.... but the celebration is as real as ever if there is a true faith in the hearts of those who are gathered to celebrate and commemorate the occasion. God bless u! They have ceremonies inside churches then 1 day vacation for all Egyptians celebrating almost the same. There are some types of food related to Easter. By the way the Easter date in Egypt is different than in Europe. There are some kinds of smoked and salty fish with green onions, coloured eggs few other things specially in that day. Both Muslims and Christians celebrate it. I use to spend that day with my Christian friends while I'm Muslim. Egypt is an open, free(to a degree)country. All religions are free to practise their religion the way they want. |
