What the hell is wrong with that pharmacist? |
Travel Info I ran out of birth control pills, so I thought I would go to the pharmacy and buy a new pack. I didn't go to the one near my home. I was walking my dog and saw that pharmacy and thought well, what's the difference, they're all pharmacies. The pharmacist was a women. I just asked her politely that I want the best birth control pills she got. I was speaking Arabic with her (broken Arabic) this is kinda funny, she asked me if I was married, so I said no, which is the truth. She looked at me like I was some sort of criminal and said she won't give me anything. Why would she do that? this is the rudest thing I've ever heard. I think she is crazy or something. Can anyone tell me if this is normal to happen or is she really crazy? lol Please no stupid comments. Travel Tips listen , briefly she took it from a religiously side , having sex wzout marriage is forbidden in Islam ( i bet she was veiled) so to give u birth control pills that means she is gonna be a part of something forbidden in Islam which is against Islam . she wasn't wrong from her religion point view and you were not wrong from Ur culture point of view. you are in a Muslim country and you should expect facing such situations . you should deal wz it properly and understand the culture which is 100% different than yours next time say yes am married . **Edit** ofcourse we are allowed to buy birth control pills , i look younger than my age and married , if i go to the same pharmacy she is gonna ask me the same . she just want to be in the safe side :) by the way it happened to me once , i just remembered Others Maybe you should have told her you need it to clear up acne and to manage pain from endometriosis - those are both valid medical reasons for taking a birth control pill without needing to be married. thats bs she should have not treated you this way i would call the store and talk to the manager sounds like she was discriminating against you..you do not have to be married to get birthcontrol pills..you dont need to make up any excuse why you need them it is none of her business she isnt a doctor maybe she thought that you were younger than you looked and or maybe she's just a ***** If your old enough to have sex, then you should know the answer to this one. She is enforcing her beliefs on you. Its not the firs time things like this has happened, and not the last. Red Wine told you the truth. You should have known you are in Egypt not in any other country. Egyptians in Egypt are living with their own culture and religious back ground. To agree with that culture or not this is something else. To live comfortably you have to accept and understand. Your question means you like to understand. Now will you accept the culture or you'll try to change it. By the way the woman was right in my opinion Good luck any way Yeah. I agree with RedWine. If you are looking for the truth, the truth is if I were in her shoes, I wouldn't give you the pills too. It's a cultural difference. We slaughter sheep in our feast. Would you give away one of your sheep - if you had one- if you knew that it was going to be slaughtered alive ? I doubt. It's all about culture differences I guess. I am sure that other people won't mind selling these pills to you. |
