Is Egypt Safe and Child Friendly?

Travel Info
I am itching to get to Egypt with my husband and 6 year old daughter. Is it safe and will my daughter have fun?

Travel Tips
I am an egyptian and im going to tell you Egypt is great and safe but it depends where you go
i reccommend you not go to cairo
Alexandria is nice
sharm el sheik and Hurghahda are also Beautiful
i have visited there
Cairo is not really safe because
1.driving is bad
2.just to live in a decent place you will need to have a lot of money
3.and just the streets are not safe to let your children go out into
And if your going there to make money
you will not be making good money
Others
You need to visit Sharm-Al-Sheikh resort, Gizeh and Alexandria - Egypt is steeped in mystery and tradition though I haven't gone there.

And yes, it's the safest region in the Arab world and people are nice and hospitable. A converstaion on Amr Diab, the famed Egyptian singer would get you started with the locals.
Yes. Welcome to Egypt, and I hope you'll all have a great time.
You will be most welcome....the people here are so friendly & absolutely adour children! Sharm el sheikh is a very popular location for families. I would recommend you book b&b basis only as there are so many restaurants to choose from oriental & also mac d's,pizza hut,K.F.C.Hard rock cafe, T.G.I.Fridays to name but a few & the prices are less than the U.K. There is also so much to see & do here including a funfair&aqua park for your daughter, based in naamba bay, which is the main town. You can even swim with the dolphins though they are in an enclosure. The beaches & scenery are something not to missed, you can do snorkelling or if your more adventurous you can do a diving course. Depending on the time year you plan to come,it does get very very hot, temperatures at the moment are reaching 90degrees&will increase until about mid september when they start to drop, though not drastically. So start buying your suncream-high factor&pack a hat&sunglasses too! .Later in the year you will need cardigans or jackets as it tends to get cooler &sometimes blowey of an evening! Last but not least just change a small amount of currency as you find the rates are higher in the banks & exchanges. Hope this is of some help to you. Go ahead, book & have a great holiday!!!
What sort of safe do you mean, do you mean safe as in fear of being hurt by others. Then yes i think so, terrorist actions are infrequent and to be honest it doesn't matter where you go in the world nowadays there is always a risk. If you mean as in are the streets safe, yes absolutely, there is less crime in Cairo than in many capital cities, if you mean as in the traffic, they are the craziest drivers i have ever seen, and lastly if you mean as in health and safety awareness, no i don't think the Egyptians are very aware in terms of health and safety but as both you and your husband will be with your daughter and looking after her, you can ensure that her needs are taken care of your self. will you have fun emphatically yes, but go in the winter the heat is really too much for a little one in summer, october or easter are very good times to go.
Safe? I think I don't agree with the above poster that it is the safest place in the Middle East. I live in the UAE which has not had a single terrorist incident. Can Egypt compare to that? Come on, Egypt is one of the countries that has had the most frequent terrorist attacks. Did this stop me from visiting two times? No it didn't. I think overall the risk of being killed in a terrorist attack is low anywhere. Go and visit but I would suggest a prepaid tour with tour guides leading the way. The taxi drivers can just drive you mad with their, lying, cheating, conniving and general agressiveness. Many friends were accosted in the airport by agresssive and pushy people trying to "scare" them into tours with them. Also there is much pushiness in the major attractions like the pyramids. I enjoyed my first trip that was guided as they protected me from all of these hassles I experienced on my second trip I took on my own. Sorry if you are from Egypt, I do not mean to offend and actually have many lovely Egyptian friends, but I have to tell the truth.
Yeaaaaaaah
You'll have fun. Hopefully. Stop itching now.
