Mena house oberoi?

Travel Info

Travel Tips
THE MENA HOUSE IS MY FAVORITE HOTEL IN EGYPT, BE SURE YOU STAY IN THE PALACE NOT IN THE GARDEN, ASK FOR ROOM 1006 OR THE ROOM NEXT TO THE MONTGOMERY SUITE...GREAT VIEW OF THE PYRAMIDS AS THE MENA HOUSE IS JUST ACROSS THE STREET. STAY IN GIZA DONT GET A HOTEL IN CAIRO, ITS TOO DAMN CROWDED AND ALWAYS TAKE A TAXI, VERY CHEAP....I ALSO STAY AT THE SIAG HOTEL, KIND OF DUMPY THE LAST TIME I WAS THERE BUT I HEARD THEY WERE REMODELING...I STAYED THERE FOR A YEAR WHILE DESERT STORM WAS GOING ON AND IT ONLY COST ME FIVE DOLLARS A DAY INCLUDING BREAKFAST. I LOVE THERE SWIMMING POOL......THE MENA HOUSE HAS A BEAUTIFUL POOL BUT NO MATTER WHEN ITS ICE COLD.......THE OBEROI RESTAURANT IS NOT THE GREATEST THO BUT THE MAMALUKE BAR IN THE HOTEL IS WHERE WE DO OUR DRINKING, AND GO TO THE VENDOM DISCO AND WATCH THE MEN DO THERE BELLY DANCING, I HANG OUT THERE A LOT...HAVE A GREAT TIME AND THINK ABOUT ME WHEN YOU ARE THERE...ALSO IF YOU WANT TO GO HORSEBACK RIDING OR RIDE A CAMEL ASK FOR MOHAMMED SAGLOOL AT OMAR STABLES AND TELL HIM BARBARA AND KAREN SAY HELLO AND TELL HIM WE MISS HIM.....MAKE SURE YOU TELL HIM WHERE WERE ARE FROM, CHICAGO.....THEY TEND TO FORGET THINGS....HE SHOULD AT LEAST REMEMBER ME, I MARRIED A FRIEND OF HIS NASER ABDOU THE MEN THERE LOVE US WESTERN WOMEN....... Source(s): I LIVED IN GIZA EGYPT FOR MANY YEARS AND KNOW THE BEST AND WORSE PLACES TO EAT,DRINK,STAY,ETC....
Other Travel Tips
Hi!. Yes, i've stayed at the Mena House, 3 years ago. Best aspect of this hotel is its proximity to the pyramids at Giza. The hotel is nice, staff friendly, nice swimming pool. I found it a little dated, it needs some refurbishment. If you've booked it, good choice. If you are looking for some extra luxury, stay at the Four seaons first residence. It is very very nice!!!!. Hope you enjoy Egypt, just don't let the locals bother you too much. Just say no!!!!!!!.
Very nice atmosphere, nice surroundings, pool, golf.
If you like old hotels it's the best with Pyramids view also.
I know it well enough to say that it is a very good hotel. The location is fantastic. It was built on the occasion of the opening of the Suez canal so that guests who came from everywhere for the inauguration could enjoy the pyramids all the time. It was renewed several times, go for it and good luck.
yes i stayed there and also think its a nice hotel i agree with the lady above if you can, stay in the palace not in the garden. rooms are large and comfortable, service is good, situation is lovely, bars are comfortable and the whole has the atmosphere of old world charm. the gardens and grounds are lovely .and the position is perfect. its a little surreal sitting on a sun bed by the pool in the shadows of the pyramids.
Also like the restaurants in the hotel just down the meridian it makes a change.
i didn't stay in the mena house oberoi but we were near it. it looked very nice. was one of the choices i looked at before i settled on the one where we stayed. we stayed at the sofitel le sphinx which is along the same road as mena. from the pool and landscaped gardens you have a fantastic view of the pyramids. beautiful hotel and lovely staff. food great. best of luck with whatever hotel you chose. enjoy cairo and the pyramids they are amazing.
