Is Yahoo Questions like high school, just a popularity contest? |
Travel Info Why is everyone so concerned with gathering points? I can see why you'd want to reach level 2 so you'd be able to rate questions. Other than that, isn't the whole point just being able to help others and to find someone you can connect with? Why the obsession with points, stars, levels...etc? Travel Tips When i first joined yahoo answers it was because i had some questions to ask, but then i started answering other people and i really felt happy the first time someone chose my answer as a best answer not for the points but rather a feeling that i helped or someone actually valued my opinion. From then on i was hooked, i wanted to answer questions only when i feel i have something to add or when its fun.... I think for many of us, especially more mature people (can't really bring myself to say older people), it isn't a popularity contest or that it is about collecting points but rather opening up to total strangers and sharing something with them from the security of my home, without judging or being judged and eventually creating a community of on line friends that i could go to every time i need them. But that's just me...... Others the same reason why it's soo darn popular in the whole world...human nature love to collect points,being the best...we are grown to be like that,we should get the highest marks in school,we should get As and Bs in college and so on..... and somehow poeple think that the one with the best points knows better than anyone else.... It's definately like high school,I'll agree there.With the childish questions (have you been to religion and spirituality section?).All Y!A needs is a lunch room with kids throwing stuff and I'd be back in HS again. Just my opinion. I personally don't care about points, but it is still an extra something. People tend to like stuff like that, makes them feel they're doing so for a purpose weve always collected things its nature look at the caveman he collected nuts and things that would keep him through the winter, we collect points with yahoo and maybe we can all eat our word points in the end game, its pointless really, ha !ha! I don't care about points either. I just like talking to people. But wouldn't it be cool if we could turn our points in for cash or prizes at the end of the year. |
