A day to show love to Egyptian Christians? |
Travel Info I wish we can have a feast in Egypt to show love to our Egyptian family. I mean to show love to Christian brothers and sisters in Egypt. Which date is good for that ? If some one may ask me why Muslims should show their love to Christians in Egypt, I would say we are an Islamic country and we are the majority. We should act responsibly. It's the concepts of Islam too. For more information read this : http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind... Travel Tips Salaam Alaikum. I totally agree with you. Something similar to the thanksgiving holidays in the US. Maybe you should bring that up to the government. Seriously, that is a fantastic concept. However, for a date, I am clueless. I would think something in the summer months, for those who can get to the beaches. Big celebrations, kite flying. Ok, if I dont stop I will cry because I want to go back to Alex! Others This would be wonderful. Since Jesus was a young child, there has been a Christian presence in Egypt. Long before the Prophet, Christians had churches there, and the traditions of the Alexandrian church are as valid as the Roman. But tolerance of minorities is the basis of the US Constitution and philosophy, so we tend to recommend it to others. Religious freedom is essential to our way of living. you already do, we all celebrate Xmas the birth of Christ and Easter the Crucifixion of Christ, well all here in Egypt use these days as a holiday, problem is there are no Egyptian dates to be found, only from neighboring countries such as Sudan, but in Egland they import dates from Egypt before hand, and dates are a speciality at Christmas especially in the christmas stocking as a filler, That's a very nice thought. It would mean alot for Christians living in Egypt. Christmas and Easter are national holidays, but mainly celebrated by Christians. However, such a suggested day should be celebrated by everyone. A day where Christains & Muslims come together and celebrate a brotherhood that they have.. I will pick a days but I don't know the exact date first: they Day when a Coptic Women went to Omar Ebn El Khatab because she wanted to tern back the money she took from Amr Ebn El aas to sell her land so that Muslims can Build a Mosque Amr Refused but Omar Ordered him to give the Coptic Women her money back Instead of setting a day in the year on which we celebrate this, after which everything returns to normal and we go back to our prejudices and arguments, why not make every day of the year a celebration by treating each other decently and setting aside our prejudices. I believe that it is not for us to judge each other's faith or beliefs. That is between the person and God, and in the end it is God who will judge us all. One of my best friends who happens to be one of the kindest and sweetest people I've ever met is Christian. She is now a nun and we have regrettably lost contact. I could never understand why people make such a big deal out of each other's religion. Instead of believing that everything is a conspiracy against us from our "enemies", we should just clean up our own act and realize that we are our own worst enemy before we end up having a civil war or even worse. Sorry for my ramblings, but this is really a sore spot for me. Thanks for caring. Why do we need a day to show them our respect and love for them, it should be all year long...... |
