How much should I tip in an all inclusive resort in Egypt? |
Travel Info And also, what currency (Egy.拢 or US $)? Am just thinking for tips at the bar, room service etc. What do we all think? Travel Tips The average basic wage for a waiter in Egypt is around 250le(Egyptian pounds)bear in mind they also get food&accomodation&normally two bottles of water(3litres)per day. 10le is more or less 2dollars this is more than adequate for the bus boys....housekeeping about 50le weekly. If you receive good service from the waiting/bar staff a tip as low as 5le at the end of the evening will be much appreciated but most people tip at the end of the holiday or the end of each week. Some hotels have a postbox in reception where you can post your tips&these are divided monthly amoungst ALL the staff. Hope you find this helpful...dont be over generous unless you want to feel like the "Pied Piper",takecare&enjoy your holiday!! Others usually tipping is 15% of the bill. just convert it into egyptian currency. its up to you but in that country i never tip//currency Egyptian pound =100 piastres The hotel may have a section on the website explaining their tipping customs. In alot of countries it's different, so if you pay 15% that may be too much. Some places tip is already included in the price even if it doesn't say so on a menu or something. You must be American. Only Americans try to tip everyone in sight when it isn't necessary. All inclusive , is all inclusive get with the program and stop ruining it for normal people. often with an all inclusive hotel they ask you to put an amount in an envelope and hand it in at reception. your tour guide may advise you. When i was on a cruise we were advised the equivalent of 拢25 stirling per couple. This was for one week. but i know the sinai resorts are more expensive you tip what you want , the norm is baksheesh. you will see they all have their hand out expecting baksheesh, learn by your mistakes its costly but as all the egyptians think we foreigners are made of money be another one to proove them right, they work on the basis you are rich i am poor theory and it works. if you give a tip of 10le that is like tipping 20 dollars in the states. how much is gas in the states? here its 90 piestas per litre, a tip for you bring dollars but change it here , |
