Can I arrive at Cairo International Airport with a Swiss army knife in luggage? |
Travel Info Related to my last question: if i stick a Swiss knife in my check-in (cargo) luggage, and upon arriving in Cairo, Egypt, will my bags be checked, and if so, will I be in trouble for having a Swiff knife? Travel Tips my husband always travels with his swiss army knife in his checked in luggage and he has arrived in luxor, sharm and Cairo on several occasions and no one has ever said any thing to us or checked our case either. in fact on two occasions we have taken one as a present to Egyptians once in sharm and once in luxor. because the people admired my husbands so much and he doesn't like to be with out it, the tools are so useful especially the screw driver and cork screw. for those who dont know a Swiss army knife is not so much a knife as a small portable tool kit.go to this website : http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/a... You'll be in trouble only if you have it in your clothes or in handbag. If you are worried much to carry it leave it. If you try to hide something else beside it or use it as a cover. Take my advice and forget all games and save your effort. Are you serious? 1 knife is bad enough but two & please excuse my ignorance but what is a "SWIFF" Knife? only do this if you want to spend time in an Egyptian jail you claim to be American so on leaving the states leave the knife at home and buy one here, it will save you any hassle as you seemed to be quite concerned about the knife like an obsession and if you are worried, our restaurants and places to eat do put knives forks and spoons on the table to eat with, so you will not have to pull your Swiss army knife out at all. and we are not allowed to use knives for whittling, as the only wood here is palm, which is no use for said practise, If by any chance you are referring to the swiff 9" army knife (uncategorised) you should not be in possession of one anyway and this will come up as a knife on the bag scanner and you will be arrested in the states for possession. |
