Have you been to Siwa oasis? |
Travel Info describe your experience. Travel Tips I did 7 years ago. I arrived in the evening and wandered about in the evening. It was a beautiful place. I visited the mudbrick ruins in town as the sun was setting and heard the call to prayer. The next day I rented a bike and did a circle around the area seeing some of the crumbling ruins of the old oracle where Alexander the Great was confirmed that he was indeed Great and also the Temple of Amon. I took a swim in Cleopatra's Pool At one of the salt lakes I watched the sun dip down. It had a very primordial feel to it with the oasis vegetation and the hard rock formations surrounding it. It looked like something out of the dinosaur age. I wrote this email shortly after about my brief visit: Siwa was very nice. The oasis looked like a primordial landscape with tall palm trees swaying in the breeze, rippling lakes glistening in the sunlight while in the distance, large monolithic rocky hills rose from the desert floor bordering this 'lost world'. As I watched the sun set from one of Siwa's lakes, I almost expected to see a lumbering brontosaurus come rumbling down to the water's edge to slake his thrist and overhead teradactlys would swirl in gracefuls arcs supported on the hot desert air. A Tyranosaurus, sleek and massive, would emerge from the forest to gaze solemnly at the setting sun and sniff respectfully of the cooling breath of the dying day before savagely devouring the aforementioned brontosaurus. http://img458.imageshack.us/img458/4868/... Egyptian butterfly yeah , from 3 months ago. It was good , calm , alot of water springs (3eyoun) we went to water factory (haya water) and it was nice to see the production of water. we went and visit 3 mountains (gabal el mawtaa) alot of skeletons everywhere and 2 others with old villages and very old mosque . we see (3eyoon maya) springs , very nice . and i drink from one of them. but many of them are not clean. Siwa in general is not clean , but healthy air , no pollution at all. kind people , but lazy little bit. we visit an environmental village (ranking between the top 20 all over the world) all things from natural sources. no electricity , no pollution, but expensive . if you want to swim, u can but still not very nice. long distance to siwa.
