Just been to Cairo for a week and talking to the locals about where i was from they all know Yorkshire, why? |
Travel Info Why do alot of ppl from Egypt know about Yorkshire? as soon as they asked where i was from and i told them England they said comments about Yorkshire, not London or anywhere else just Yorkshire. MY question is why do they know about Yorkshire? Travel Tips I tell you my opinion as an Egyptian, so I'm not sure this is right. Most probably you mean people in Luxor. I know that many people in Cairo don't know where is Yorkshire. You know in the past there was a British occupation in Egypt and many English people had a business with monuments. That means they use to stay in specially in the south either to discover and research or to buy pieces. Also in the past England use to buy the Egyptian cotton which I think use to go to Yorkshire. At the same time many of the new generations don't know much about other cities than London. I wish that helped some way to answer your question. Others cricket This is very egyptian,,,i was in there too ,,everyone says he knows Jubail... they can not make the pudding no matter how they try the pud never rises, why? so they go about looking for yorkshire lasses to ask this question but are only told about cricket, cos they do not know how to make yorkshire pudding either, I am from newtown powys they also knew powys, do you? they said its full of foriegners like here, then I realized they where in paris,??? i cant answer your question but i know what you mean theres a jewellers in Luxor called yorkshire Bob's and next door is lancashire Jimmy, but both owners are completely egyptian and as far as i know have never even left egypt for a holiday. .. hence! Egyptians know of everything! try them! |
