Travel Info Egyptians: Do you think that channels like Melody & Mazika caused or increased sexual harrassement in Egypt? Travel Tips I would have to agree with Kalooka. I think there was already a high prevelance of sexual frustration in place. Speaking from personal experience, I was sexually harassed 2 times in Egypt in a period of 6 weeks. Never been harassed at all in the states. It is all in the attitude towards sexual behavior that people have been raised with, as well as the feelings of society as a whole. I know I will take a lot of heat from men for saying this, but as a whole I think there are many men in Egypt who are not properly socialized in dealing with the opposite sex. And I am not talking in a relationship. I am talking in just general everyday activities, such as shopping, or standing in line to get a visa in the Mugamma Building. Just because there is a woman standing in the line in front of you does not mean it is ok to try to put your hands and other body parts all over her. This is just basic respect for other human beings that most people are taught in nursery school as small children. Is there something missing in the education system of Egypt? Or is it just the attitude: if we don't talk about sexual harassment we can pretend it does not exist? Don't get me wrong - I love Egypt. I just see this as a problem. Others they just took the deprivation/frustration feelings to new levels! I can see what you mean, and I agree with both Kalooka and Common Sense. However, If people don't like those channels why on earth do they watch them?! A lot of guys are not going to like what I'm going to say, but if seeing all those half naked girls or those with sprayed on clothes walking down the streets frustrates you so much, why do you add to your frustration by watching that rubbish posing as art on TV?! The stuff you see on the street is not your choice, though of course you can always chose to look the other way after the first unintentional look (3'ad albassar). What you view on TV, however, is your choice, so you can't really complain about that. Fasting is what the Prophet (PBUH) suggested for that problem, and I'm sure as hell that nobody watching that stuff is actually fasting! Even Christians I'm sure are taught by their religion to avoid such trashy scenes. So guys, really, you have no excuse! i agree with ministry of common sense very strongly. i often find i am subjected to verbal abuse and occasional physical abuse. Nothing like this ever happens in england. i also agree with the reasoning behind the comment. yes for both sexs Men can be hormy for no reason I know IM a man It probably just increased the pervertedness even more i mean a males behavior in the states is so much dif than in any arabic countries |
