What is your identity as an egyptian?

To a foreigner, say Egypt and pyramids is what comes first to the mind. Next comes Arabness. To the historically oriented comes Copts and Berbers.

I was wondering, what do egyptians identify themselves with.

A. Pharoic egypt and the fact that it has such a significance in Abrahimic religions. Also do pyramids mean anyting to you apart from being tourist attraction?

B. Copts and Berbers who were the original natives

C. Arabs i.e post Islamic Egypt.

And how about social stratification? Are blacks & berbers discriminated?

oops, You forgot to add "Egyptians are some of the most caring, loving people on the earth" , that is what I classify them as!!!!

These days they should identify as Arabs, wit a pharoic history and occupiers such as copts and berbers with other influences.

All of the above are just man made titles, except for 'Egyptian' as Egypt is mentioned in the New the Old testament and the Qu'ran by GOD. However I find it distressing that so many Egyptians identify (proudly) as children of Pharoah, when Pharoah was the worst human being ever....and we should think of ourselves as Muslims, therefore chidlren of Adam(as) and nothing else, not color, creed anything are supposed to matter....You go to all these places in Egypt and see monuments to a tryant, and then they wonder why they are ruled to this day by a tyrant....
We are Egyptians loving each others , we all are equal , but we all are victims to Government and media.

We don't think the way you said, but we think that we are Egyptians and we proud of most of our history , but i think we will be better if we look to future more than history.
