What British women wear in Egypt? |
Travel Info I know i have to cover my head, shoulders and legs in temples, but do i really have to cover up so much when i'm out and about elsewhere? Going out in the evening for instance? What do other tourists generally do? Travel Tips wear the normal clothes you'd wear if you knew the country was conservative. Avoid any "less" items of clothing, like sleevelss, backless,... Anything below the knee and covering the torso would be great. Sorry, i never saw any groping myself!!!I've been to sharm and many tourist areas, but never have i seen such a thing! Others Yes absolutely unless you fancy being groped by the locals. I had the misfortune to wear jeans & a fitted t-shirt in Cairo. Even though I was with my boyfriend, guys walking down the street kept trying to grab me. Not a comfortable situation. Rule of thumb, if you're out and about cover as much as comfortable in the heat but it's more relaxed in the larger tourist hotels. The best option for daytime is a loosely fitted skirt below the knee with a shirt or wide trousers and unfitted tops. Tunics over jeans would work well in the evening. Steer well clear of leggings or anything showing off your figure. Anywhere requiring reverence will expect a woman to cover up completely - long trousers/skirt, long sleeve top and head scarf. welcome to Egypt , there is no problem for clothes any where in Egypt you can wear any thing you like it just when you visit the religious places you wear long dress mamado1eg@yahoo.com www.hophoptravel.com British women may wear what they want, cops won't arrest them for what they wear, it's only the peeps who will keep Starr rudely to your butt or legs or head if they are uncovered at night you may go to cafes like "alfishawi" in alhussain district or "after eight", have a walk on the nile bank or go to movie theaters http://www.virtualtourist.com/ Wear what do you wear in Britain.. about what the above me said that they'll stair at your butt, it depends on the place u r in, if u r in Cairo sometimes u'll find some people looking at u or starring at u, but in Sharm el Shaikh, nobody would look at you. u don't have to cover your head, shoulders and legs in temples, that's a wrong thought, u have two in only in mosques and Islamic temples, and u don't have to cover ur head too, u just have to wear something that covers the knee and shoulders...
