How can I find an apartment in Cairo for the month of July? |
Travel Info I am going to Cairo shortly to learn Arabic and I need a good, but not luxury, apartment for about a month. What websites, expat newspapers etc. will help me to find an apt.? Also, what are the best areas to live in and how expensive are they? Thanks. Travel Tips Hi, short term rental is never easy to find in Cairo and finding one that is not expensive is a tough task, but let me point u to several places where u can search. 1- www.ewaseet.com - the web site of the largest classifieds ad newspaper in Egypt, in english and has a lot of real estate opportunities 2- ERA - one of the biggest real estate brokers, not sure if they can help out on such a small job, but u can try their web site. www.era-me.com 3- Coldwell Banker - www.coldwellbanker-eg.com to be honest, your best bet is ewaseet.com, I personally feel that the best way of handling this is to actually be on the ground and hire a small time broker in mohandseen, dokki, zamalek area. Others Cairo ELmahandsen is the best area 30 days not less than 9000 LE up to 20 000 LE MASR elgadeda is a good place too and you can find a good apartment there for 5700 LE 5700 = 1000 $ MAADI area is good too price there 6000 : 12000 pls tell me where you are going to learn and study and i will help you to chose easy to find at down twin will cost u around 3000l.e for 1 month rent .if u want contact me by email.have nice time at cairo. Finding an apartment won't be difficult. In Zamalek there are a number of companies that advertise in the street and you can find a place quickly. Online you can find at cairoscholars - they've changed their hosting from yahoogroups to something else, just look them up and you'll find listings from fellow expat students. This is how I found a place, and quickly. I also know there is a man who hangs around the Horreya coffee shop in falaki square who shows apts downtown. Places: Zamalak is a nice area with lots of restaurants, cafes, etc. Most people who first go to Cairo find this place comforting for it's appeal to westerners yet right next to downtown. Mohandeseen is busy and loud but also with lots of restaurants - it's just not as walkable or quaint as zamalek.. but it will be cheaper, as will dokki, which i think is a cute neighborhood. My favorite area though must be Maadi. It is kind of far - about 20 minutes by train to downtown and sweltering in July but I love that it's residential and quiet and has nice peaceful cafes and streets. look my friend i been in london but i back 2Egypt for about 3month so may be i can find good an apartment in Cairo for u and this not going 2cost u lots of money believe me. i will email u ok it's hard to find apartment online you should go egypt and live in a hotel until you find a good apartment. best thing is to stay with local family, advertise at university in Cairo. |
