Should I take small gifts to give away to egyptian locals? |
Travel Info I'm going to egypt and I wonder if I should take small novelties to give to random egyptian children that i come across. like i have a pink, glittery lipstick shaped pen that is perfect for a little girl but I don't know if she would be offended...what do you think? Travel Tips Hi, ive been going to luxor for 12 years and intend to live there from september.. All children in egypt love pens and pencils, nothing grand just your basics. They also like english sweets and money..please do not give money. as it makes them start begging as an easy earner.. If you can afford it, take some pens and pencils into ther childrens home.. In luxor its called the sunshine home. they will be over the moon to see someone thinking of them Others I guess that would be a nice thing from you. Usually when I'm there with my wife and kids, I give some kids that I'm passing by some candy if I have. It probably would be fine to give little novelty toys, but you might want to see where they're made (from china, vietnam, or taiwan are fine.) Candy might be offensive, seeing how some children in africa are forced to harvest coco and cocao beans. Its Not Everyday SomeOne Does That x pen is very good to give it to children. i bought some chocolate, and they loved it. muslim egyptians have the heart and soul to others. i really like them, and you can play wiht the kids anytime anywhere you like. p.s. make sure you have clothes that are very conversative, such as cover your neck and legs. if you go to muslim place, you need scraft to cover your hair. I think it's a kind feeling of you. I don't know how to explain that it wont be appropriate to give it to random children. I know how nice to see a smile or when you make a little kid happy, but find another way please. You may find a kid with someone who makes any service for you or someone you meet everyday who has kids. Example for why not : Sometimes when you give something to those kids in the street randomly, it's quite dangerous for them. I mean other older guys or someone may harm them to take it even if it's nothing. Street life is different and good will is not enough. Any way thank you for the nice feeling of the kids. |
