Travel Tips Hi there, I am American and I have went to Egypt 2 times in the past 2 years. You can get your visa when you arrive in the Cairo airport for $15 and it only takes a few minutes. If you decide to get your visa while you are in the USA it will take about a month before you get your passport returned to you with the visa in it, but you can expedite it and it only takes a week, but costs a lot more. The first time I went to Egypt I got mine from here in the USA because I wanted to make sure there was not going to be any problems, and when I arrived in Cairo I didn't want to go to the visa line and wait, I just wanted to get in the check line and go. Either way is good, but I would recommend getting it from your country - if you have enough time before you leave. Or go to your embassy and they'll tell you what you need to do. One to 3 Month Visas can be purchased on arrival at the Airport from most countries. Approx. $15 US for a one month Visa. You will need to have your money ready to go to the Bank on arrival. They will sell you two stamps to place in your passport on a blank page before going through customs. It will take less than 15 mints on arrival at Cairo Airport .. cost 45 Egyptian pound 568 egyptian pound = 100 $ and it is easy to exchange here anywhere |
