Hijabis who dive? |
Travel Info Salam alaikum! I just spent a month in Egypt a few months ago and I wanted to go diving in the Red Sea sooo bad it hurt! Lol! I couldn't because I didn't have any hours and I didn't have enough time to take classes. Well, I really didn't even have time to visit the Red Sea, lol. Anyways, how does it work with being a hijabi? Are the suits loose enough and cover enough? And since we're on a close topic, are there any websites that feature swimsuits for hijabis? I know of the ones on jelbab.com, and ahiida.com, but they're just so expensive. Any advice? Travel Tips Walaikum Assalam, to be precise the costumes available for diving in general are body fitted which as per my view is not at all in limits of hijab.I would suggest you to get permission from the guide and then get a suit stitched the top a bit lose and below your hipline with a lower lose so as to hide your body shape. It would be comfortable enough if it is of lycra fabric. Allah Hafiz Others Most of the suits are expensive....bust seriously most regualr bathing suits are anyway... Check out the links here: http://www.modestclothes.com/islamic/clo... I don't dive, but I can give a swimsuit suggestion. I special ordered a modest swim suit on ebay, from a Christian woman for $50. Its full length, and looks nice too, very similar to salwar kameez. Doesn't hold water and doesn't cling. I wore it with a regular amira style hijab, no problem. It works well when I take my children to the pool, but I feel self conscious and cover with a chador as soon as I get out of the water. Iran has them try If you could manage to get a female boat crew (good luck) or get the crew to drop you somewhere private and then dive, ok. But really, how can anyone consider a wet suit to be Islamic? What is with this focus on covering the skin only? The Quran says to wear a jilbab in surah 3:59. The Arabic word used is jilaabihinna which means "their jilbabs". A jilbab is a loose cloak that covers the body. There is no such thing as an "Islamic swimsuit", unless it is referring to the modest dress in front of other female swimmers. Sorry, but that is the way it is. This is ultimately for our benefit. Perhaps we will work harder at making private locations available for these activities. They probably have something like that across the Red Sea in Saudi. For swimming there are beaches for women only in the north coast now. For diving the normal diving suit covers almost all the body but it's skin tight, which spoils one of the conditions of Hejab. You know hejab has 3 conditions : Not revealing - Not showing details - Not transparent As long as you tried be sure God will help you to find suitable thing. Good luck Usama : I permit but I corrected some typing mistakes , so please correct it too .... loool |
