Has anyone been to Marsa Alam in The Red Sea?

Travel Info
Want somewhere quiet, nice beach and opportunity to learn scuba diving. Seems the best option after hours of net research!!!!!!

Travel Tips
Yes you must go there.
Went in May and stayed at Iberotel Lamaya resort.
There is a beach there, but it's not a fantastic one. However, this does not matter. The snorkeling is great and they do scuba diving courses everyday. The hotel is fantastic and the swimming pools are lovely.
It's a really quiet and unspoilt place. Don't go here if you are looking for great nightlife, as you won't get it!

very pristine and virgin spot on the Red Sea...been there and enjoyed myself..it's also a very peaceful place and i'd definitely recommend it.
I am going on 11th July for 2 weeks. Can;t wait. I researched it alot before booking. We are staying at Iberotel Lamaya
I wasn't there but I know it's very good and I wish to be there soon. I think you made the right choice. You don't have many choices there. Iberotel is most known there and I know that Movenpick was going to open there and I don't know what happened coz Movenpick has one hotel in El Qusier which near to Marsa Alam.
About scuba diving you can learn in many other places like Dahab, Nuwieba, Hurghada, but Marsa Alam area is very good when dive after the training.
Try to tell us later when you come back as it will be interesting. I'm dreaming now to go there.
Welcome in Egypt and good luck
Dear ,
i visited the marsa alam area all ready twice,
and i would recommend it to everyone.
first time was in a resort and was diving daily by the resort boat and the second time was on a safari boat which left from marsa alam and reached just north of an area called ras binas.
the area of marsa alam includes the elphistone reef which is considered one of top ten dives world wide.
i enjoyed diving both times , clear water, a lot of marine fauna and i was also lucky to see a small shark.
best of luck
