You place the card into the phone, as you would a credit card in an ATM machine, dial the number & they will tell you how many minutes you have on you card! You can also purchase a sim card, but if you get the tourist one it will work out more expensive than the local sim. You can purchase it from Egypt Telecom's offices and centrals, form most post ofices, or authorized dealers. The Rates to the UK are 3.50LE Peak and 3.00LE Off peak. Other options will be to use public phones... you'll need to purchase a smart card to use them and it's usually available in stores, supermarkets, pharmacies and kiosks. The rates should be similar to the rates of Egypt Telecom. To use the sim card option... of course you need to have a Cell phone that can work in Egypt with either of the three service providers. With the prepaid card option International calls are enabled by default but the rates are a little bit higher than those of Egypt Telecom. yes or as ellahw elkhfi says you can buy a vodaphone sim card it is called a holiday card and only costs about 30 Egyptian that's about 拢3, it lasts for around 6 weeks, then expires, you then top up on pay as you go basis. You can buy them in the vodaphone shop in narrma bay its on the corner of the main pedestrian road and the main dual carriage way road. its not just a vodaphone shop its like a Tandy shop with lots of electrical in it. But it had the vodaphone symbol on the window. They were very helpful and dont forget to ask them to change the top up line to English for you so you can understand instructions and credit info. i find this the simplest cheapest way to call and text. I could phone for ages for only a few punds and text for around 5-10p. But you will need an unlocked mobile. |
