But then so does the Valley of The Kings and Abu Simbul. I also get the feeling that giving The Giza Pyramids "honorary status" is a real cop out. As another answerer remarked you cannot have two or even three lists of"7 Wonders",it is either a wonder of the world, or it isn't. Although they are beautiful and inspiring the Taj Mahal and the statue of Christ the Redeemer,cannot be considered ancient by any means. So, shouldn't they go into the same category of "The 7 Modern Wonders" just as The Sydney Harbour Opera House and the American Presidents at Mt.Rushmore are?. But then it starts to become a joke we have the 7 Ancient Wonders of the World", "The 7 Natural Wonders of the World" and The & Modern Wonders of the World". The Nile as the longest river in the world should be on the list of The 7 Natural Wonders" but it isn't. So its really just lost all its meaning,Next they will have a list of The 7 Best McDonalds in the World."It makes just as much sense! Sorry but it makes me feel a bit annoyed. I was really surprised that Zahi Hawass seems so complacent about the Pyramids having honarery status. To some he may have seemed annoyed in the T.V interviews but believe me if that man is annoyed you know it. Big time! As much as I hate to say it I have a feeling that commercialism and the big tourism companies,of which many are attached to banks, have had the final say on the compiling on the lists. Letting us vote is just a ploy to make the people feel involved and maybe incite some interest in more tourism to the places on the lists. I would like to see Egypt,China,Central America and Easter Island become notable Heritage Countries. So no I certainly don't think it was fair at all. Anyway, I like Machu Picchu, Peru. i saw it on TV a short while back, and it blew me away. they wanted to list 7 things that exist now, and haven't already been honored in the first 7 wonders. The giza pyramids are on the 7 wonders of the ancient world already. It can't be on two lists. That would not be fair. THAT IS EXACTLY THE LIST I VOTED FOR! HONEST! Giza is an honorary member of the new list so it's sort of on both lists, kinda, in a way. There were originally 150 candidates (I think) for the new list. I think they should put Mubarak as one of the seven wonders of the world. their sooo dumb i mean and if anyone wanted to vote for it, the website didnt let you, instead of a check box they had a link of 'more info' this is too fishy!! im pissed too, that should ve topped the list~~ |
