If you won one million dollars, how much would you give to charity? |
Travel Info What charity or charities would you give to and why? Travel Tips Actually this may sound like I am a very greedy person, but to do what I really dream of doing I would need much more than a million dollars! I've noticed that there is a huge problem in Egypt that nobody I know of is paying any real attention to. Parents of children with downes syndrome or other similar mental disabilities are worried sick about what will happen to their children when they (the parents) are dead. After all, very few relatives are willing to take care of someone mentally disabled for the rest of their lives. There are not enough decent facilities to take care of those children, teach them a trade or simply teach them how to care for themselves. Governorates other than Cairo and Alex are really suffering. What I wish to accomplish is to found a school for those children in every governorate with very high standards and qualified staff. They would not just be educated and offered medical care, but I wish that the school would be able to provide some sort of accomodation for those who no longer have anyone to care for them. If they are able to, they might be encouraged to help others in the school. Ideally, all this should be free of charge for those who could not afford it. So you see, one million dollars is no where near enough to fulfill my dream. I would also like to see a change in the attitude of the society towards the mentally disabled. Some people never seem to think that it could happen to them or to their loved ones. Source(s): My dreams Other Travel Tips 10% of it i wouldn't give it to a charity. because you don't really know who is actually getting it. i would rather help, poor single moms like myself. then i know for a fact my money went to good use. and i know plenty of struggling moms out there. 10-15% at the least. The charities I would donate to would be Salvation Army, Gospel for Asia, MedSend, and my church. Better yet, just give it to my church to decide what charities to give it to. Unfortunately, I don't have a million dollars. Leftovers would go to help pay for college! minimum of 10%. Give to my chruch for youth programs and an animal shelter. none charity begins at home |
