I'm studying in Florence from Sept to May. Have any tips as to how to get a p/t job or good place to rent?

I want to find some kind of part time job (retail, hotel something that doesn't require fluent Italian) I also need some advice as to how to get a good room to rent. Any info would be great! Thanks!
