What interesting historic landmarks are in the Middle East? |
Travel Info I'm kinda sick of Greece and Italy and I'm thinking of visiting something new this summer... The perfect would be something I don't need a visa for - or I can get a visa pretty easily, that is safe, has electricity and plumings, somewhere where fast internet connection is not a dream and has lots and lots of really old and impressive historical landmarks... PS1. How safe is to visit Babylon (in Iraq)? PS2. Where is that monument with lots of statues of men and women and one of them has an eagle head (that is supposed to be the cheaf god or something...) Travel Tips COME TO TURKEY OFCOURSE . YOU CAN SEE BOTH EUROPEAN , MYST陌C, H陌STOR陌CAL, TRAD陌T陌ONAL C陌TES. http://www.tourismturkey.org/ Source(s): HAVE A N陌CE HOL陌DAY Other Travel Tips Iran is very beautiful. When the Shah was in power ages ago, Iran was quite the tourist destination. If you are looking for historic sites in the middle east, well there are just too many to list, and the level of importance may depend on your religion. Iraq is not safe right now for anyone. I'm not sure, but your monument thing sound like Egypt. The food in the Middle East is divine. If I were planning a trip I would choose Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Dubai, and Iran. You may wish to modify the Iran thing if you are a woman or an American. If you are both, then you might avoid a few of those countries unless you have a large male escort who is either related or married to you. If you are a guy, then you should be ok. PS1 : I may be wrong, but the site of Babylon is nowadays... Bagdad. It's up to you to decide whether you want to go there or not. PS2 : It's the Nemrud Dag. I'ts in cappadocia, a hilly part of South-east coast of Turkey. An amazing site, I guess. About the rest : You should go to Petra, in Jordan (remember the canyon at the end of Indiana Jones and the last cruisade ?). If I were you I'd go in Asia minor and visit Pergamon, Ephese, Izmir. Great ancient sites there. There is one problem about Isra毛l : if you go to Isra毛l, they'll refuse you then at the jordanian or syrian border if they see israelian stamp on your passport. So choose carefully. any where in middle east there is history under you every step so there of lot of palces of historical nature in every middle eastren country PS1 - Iraq is not safe PS2 - i think you're talking about the Sphynx and the drawings inside pyramids...that would be in Egypt which is in Africa...Egypt is an Arab country but it's not in the middle east how about Lebanon or Jordan? there are lots of historic places to visit in Lebanon mostly Roman and Greek ruins and Castles...Lebanon has electricity, internet and plumbing...Lebanon has great night life in Beirut mostly and a great natural scenery on the muntains there are 20 countries in ME region: Armenia,Azerbaijan,Bahrain, Cyprus , Georgia,Iran,Iraq,Israel, Jordan,Kuwait,Lebanon,Oman, Palestine,Qatar,Saudi Arabia, Syria,Turkey,United Arab Emirates,Yemen few of them need visa prior to your arrival, depends on which passport you have plenty of history and ancient sites, different cultures based on religion and landscape, many nations mixed in ME I will definitely recommend ( in abc order): Cyprus - EU country, no visa needed - all you mentioned available.Pafos,Limassol, Curium, Amathus, Ayia Napa.great to relax, beautiful scenery and Greek-Roman ancient sites you can also cross to North part and visit Salamis, Soli, Kyrenia,Bellapais, the ghost town of Famagusta Egypt - no visa or upon your arrival - Cairo, Pyramids, Alexandria,Valley of the Kings, Luxor - fantastic Israel - no visa needed ( upon your arrival and security control, which is quite tough - entry granted ) very modern, historical sites on every step, something you visit once in a life time.TelAviv,Jerusalem, Betlehem, Jordan river, Galilei Lake....if your passport is stamped on your arrival or departure ( they very rarely do it, but no guarantee), you will not be allowed to enter other Arab country ( except Jordan and Egypt) Jordan - visa at arrival - all you mentioned available - Petra (!!), Jerrash,Dead Sea,Maddaba Lebanon - no visa or upon your arrival - very modern - visit Beirut ( Paris of ME), Byblos ( the oldest continuously inhabited place in the world), Baalbeck,Ksara,Harissa,Tyre,Si... Turkey - no visa or upon your arrival - Istanbul,Cappadocia,Bursa, Antalya, Ephesus, Pamukkale for all other countries you will need visa they are all beautiful and worth seeing.some of them are not that safe at this moment.
