I lived in Ghana from 1988-1994. Will you be staying in Accra? First off...beware of pickpockets!! Best hotel back in those years was Golden Tulip opened by KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines). There are several good beaches in Accra. See Youtube. There some video of Accra. If you drive to Cape Coast (a few hours drive) you can see castles once occupied by British, Spanish, Dutch, and Portuguese. Near Wenchi, there are a couple of water falls. If I can remember correctly, in Tema, there is a water dam you can visit. GNTC is/was a supermarket which offers almost anything you need. Hinlone is a great Chinese restaurant. I am not sure whether they are still in business. KiKi Riki is one of the two restaurants where they serve excellent grill chicken. In 92 or 93, Chinese theater was built. Never been inside. Again, keep in mind these information are current up to 1994. Alot of things may have changed. Have a good trip. Oh, check out Ghana International School (GIS). That's the school I attended. A wise 26 year old pilot. (Hey that's me!) :o) have fun be careful enjoy yourself as if you are at home, you will be more welcome, there are many main attractions in ghana , and very nice hot spots in Accra, have fun |
