Make sure tetanus shots are up to date. And for heavens sake, TAKE ANTI-MALARIAL PROPHOLACTICS! I strongly advise against larium, it has some bad side effects. Read up on malaria, it's symptoms, prevention and cure. The most popular malarial drug we take once we have malaria is coartem with a course of doxycyclin anti biotics. Doing volunteer work in a remote jungle villiage and you need many. Some countries require Yellow Fever. Malaria is no fun. I get nearly all of them and attach the innoculations record to my passport. Then I can run across the border to any country I want in Africa with a proper visa. I usually get the visa for other African countries from the initial one I am in. Why? Because the cost is far cheaper than me getting such visas in european countries or America. I do not get the rabies vaccination because it does not last long and is very, very expensive. |
