How are homes in Nigeria Made? |
Travel Info I am planning to move to nigeria soon. Does anyone know how homes there are made?? Do they have airconditioning? Indoor bathrooms?? Anything like homes we have here in the USA ??? And also what is rent like, how are you charged, and how much??/ I'd aprreciate any positive comments... THanks Travel Tips Nice surprise! Someone actually moving to Nigeria. Congrats, Brittany! Yes they have airconditioning. Yes they have indoor bathrooms (even in the rural areas). Yes they're very much like the houses you have in the USA. (If you're really asking this, then I suggest you accumulate a lot more information about Nigeria before you travel!) A house in any of the major cities is typically built from cement and sometimes, bricks. We don't build with wood like they do in the U.S. Like everything else, what you get depends on what you can afford. You can get palatial accommodations if you choose; or, u can get a bare room if that's what you want. In Lagos/Abuja/PortHarcourt, rent for 2 years in the city's best spot would cost about $10-11 thousand (payable in cash, in advance) for a couple of rooms. (Usually unfurnished.) You can get accommodations for much less but that would be taking you to parts of the cities you may not be too interested in living in. I hope you do go. I hope you have a wonderful time with your fiancee/boyfriend! Shoot me any questions if you choose, aight?! Others Well it depends how much money you have. If you can afford it, then yes it will be like the homes you have in America (probably better though as everything should be cheaper). If you go into rural areas then no, you probably wont have air con, indoor bathrooms etc. Generally in the majority of Africa, those who can affod it live a great lifestyle with very nice houses I havent actually been to Nigeria, so I cant be very specific Im afraid. You normally have to furnish your house and with whatever you want airconditioning etc, rent varies in different cities. In the capital Abuja you would mostly be required to pay 2 years rent upfront. An idea of the cost is one and a half million naira payment for two years rent for a 3 bedroom unfurnished apartment, thats about $10,000 i live in Zambia but i love to watch the Nigerian movies. And the cribs they have there? they will take your breath away. probably better than your current home or apartment in the US of A. |
