Question about Botswana? |
Travel Info I heard recently that Botswana is the least tolerant country in Black Africa regarding corruption. Has anyone here experienced a long stay in Botswana and what is your view on the matter? Travel Tips botswana is almost corruption free (atleast in my view). very strict and by the boook officials. if they had a beach i would have moved there years ago. Source(s): been there for work enough times to know Other Travel Tips I stayed and worked in Botswana for nearly two years. Yes, they are very strict on anyone trying to break the law. The police are very aggressive and not easily corrupted so thats a good thing. The immigration and customs are just as strict so the country is on the right track. The Botswana government minds it's own business too. Black Africa? LoL.I wonder what that means? Sub Saharan Africa perhaps? Do explain. I am a Motswana and stay in Botswana. Compared to other African countries, Botswana is one of the countries where you find the least cases or incidences of corruption. Whether it is because they go unreported or do not occur is whole other topic. But I do know that people who have been caught accepting or soliciting bribes are really made to pay for their crimes ( long jail time and huge fines). In all my adult life I have never been solicited for a bribe by a police officer or a government official. This is not say there are no corrupt officials out there but they are few compared to other countries that I have been to like South Africa (is it Black Africa?). Cheers. |
