Ghana help??

Right, i am going to Accra in Ghana next summer .. in 2008 that is after I have managed to save up enough money for the 5 weeks.

I live in the north-east of england and would like to know where I can find cheap flights. I don't think there will be any direct but I can try. I can fly from pretty much any airport in the UK but preferably local.

Also does anybody know which injections I will need or tablets. I think i need maleria tablets but I'm unsure of what else.

Last time my trip to Ghana was from Los Angeles, California, US to London. Then I changed planes and flew from London to Accra.

I know Ghana wants yellow fever shots but I keep all of my shots up to date and on a medical card attached to my passport. Why? Because it is very cheap to get visas for other countries in Africa while in Accra. So I can cross the borders or take a plane elsewhere without worrying about getting my shots first. I also get the multiple-entry visa type only when in Africa(usually good for 36 months).

Since most African countries currencies are weak, compared to non-African currencies, many will beg for your help/money assistance. Remember, you are not jesus, you can not save the world. You could make friends with those from Ghana living around you now? So you can have contacts in Ghana when you arrive. Also you can make friends via www.afrointroductions.com

PS: Always drink bottled water in Ghana and take pills for 'the runs'. As your body really needs 8 weeks to adjust to a new continent. Eat only cooked foods in Ghana or fruits with thick skins on them. By little or no street vendor foods unless you have been in Africa atleast 8 weeks. Use a mosquito net over your bed any place every night. Africa and Africans are enjoyable but you must understand the environmental differences.
