I heard that the AIDS percentage in Zambia is high, does that make it dangerous to go there? |
Travel Info i am going in august Travel Tips No, it makes it dangerous to have sex there. There are many other things that make it a dangerous place to be so be careful. Others It all depends what you are planning to do in Zambia Its depends what your going for? If you planning on having unprotected sex or anything else which could expose you to AIDS then yes its dangerous! AIDS is a bloodborne pathagen. It is not airborne. Which means you would have to come into contact with infected blood, (which is in bodily fluids) You can't just breathe the air and get HIV. Hepatitis B virus can live on surfaces up to 6 months. While HIV is about 20 mins. I organized a blood drive with students at a school that were uneducated and scared to give blood. AIDS is not a contagious disease .Even if you practise safe sex you won't die by going there unless you inject yourself with the virus!! Unless you anticipate having sex why would it be... ?? I came back from Uganda in Jan/Feb 07 where HIV/Aids is rife.. and I was a lone female traveller.. and I survived the experience!! |
