Traveling to west Africa this coming December...? |
Travel Info I am traveling with my boyfriend and his sister to visit their parents whom are missionaries in Burkina Faso. Is there anything in particular that I should know and/or do before I go. Besides the obvious like get a passport? Also, how many months will it take to get my passport if I do not pay the extra $60? Thanks! Travel Tips Your passport will probably take a few months or so -- plan ahead and send early so you don't have to worry. For Burkina, you should get some basic vaccinations -- Hep A/B, yellow fever, etc. You will also need to get some malaria meds before you go. Since you're going in December, you can also study some basic French (if you don't already know it) so that you'll have an easier time with locals. Other Travel Tips It will take about 6 to 9 months to get your passport without. There was an announcement about passports taking a long time about 2 weeks ago. That's why they extended the date requiring all air travelers to get one. |
