Safe to visit Israel next weekend? |
Travel Info I am flying into Tel Aviv next Friday, going to the Dead Sea for one night then two days/nights in Jerusalem and one night in Tel Aviv. How safe is it there right now? MY primary concern is getting from Tel Aviv to Dead Sea in that it appears that we will have to travel part of the way through the West Bank. We have hired a private car service to transport us there and my boyfriend tells me not to worry but being a blonde American woman makes me a bit worried. Also, many of the guidebooks say that you should obviously dress modestly when going to religious sites (Western wall, etc.). How about just walking around in Old City Jerusalem? Should I be concerned about keeping my head (blonde hair) covered? I feel like it is more of a security issue and as not to stand out in the crowd. Please advise...any thoughts on any of the above would be appreciated. Please note that I am less concerned about Tel Aviv as it appears to be quite a cosmopolitan city and we will only be there for one night Travel Tips I hope you are not flying with ELAL,.....no flights arriving Saturday there.......nor Friday evening. You can dress and go as you like. NO PROBLEM to go anywhere in Israel. Lots of blondes Americans live there too. Yes dress modestly while visiting religious places (even Mosques) You don;t have to cover your head, unless you want to. Have a good trip. P.S. Doin't go to Gaza these days.!!!!!!!!!!! Others Stay away from Gaza, Ramallah and all those places controlled by terrorists. Israelis are not allowed there anyway, so you won't be going there unless you insist (which you won't). The only thing you will miss by not going to Gaza would be to observe their latest game: they tie up the arms and legs of a rival terrorist and throw him off a skyscraper. Lots of fun for these people. . should be fine as long as you stay away from the now controlled Gaza as well as other terrrorist controlled areas. You shuld continue following up with the situation areas by watching international news regarding the entire country (from journalists' point of view since they experience it first hand) to tell you how things are going there at current time. Hope that helps, Take care now and remain blessed. P.S. have a safe journey You should be fine. Don't worry about the blonde hair, it's not a big deal at all. All the places you describe are perfectly safe, and Americans (including blonde Americans) will not be targetted there for anything heinous. |
