A Question for Malaysians, Filipinos, Thai, Singaporeans, etc.?

Travel Info
I notice that whenever a question is asked about good nations Asian travel destinations, if someone mentions Japan, they always get thumbs down, but whenever the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand are mentioned, there are always thumbs up. I was just wondering why you think Japan is such a bad place to travel. Japan isn't even a top Asian travel destination. China and Hong Kong are the most popular, followed by Thailand, so it can't be that you want people to consider less popular destinations...

I'm not saying that everyone does this, but some people obviously do, since it happens every time.

Travel Tips
Honestly, the reason for the thumbs down is that because Japan is very similar to the United States and other European countries - same urbanization and same snow in the North. It tightly conforms to nearly every Asian stereotype.

Thailand is very nice, because of its' islands and beaches in the southern part of the nation.
Malaysia and Singapore are also hip, because of their nice cities.
The Philippines is the country that deviates most from the typical Asian stereotype - because it is a Hispanic-Asian country. It also has been voted to be one of the world's nicest countries. Also, Boracay in the Philippines has been voted as the BEST beach in the world, with its' really excellent beaches, non-stop nightlife, dining, and resident Eurasians and Amerasians.
Others
i guess because japan is well developed country and its focusing more on other issues of earning money rather than tourist attraction
For me, Japan is also a nice travel destination. However, because travel to Japan will cost more, other nations where travel will cost less is recommended.

I'm not sure who thumbs down or up, sorry.
Yeah, when it comes to tourism Japan really needs a lot of catching up to do. Only about 5 million tourists visit Japan each year, compared to 32 million in China, 16 million in Hong Kong, and 10 million in Thailand & Malaysia. I guess this is bec. maybe of language barrier (I heard they're not as fluent in English compared to other Asians) or maybe bec. natural tourist attractions are slowly disappearing there. Another reason could be because it's a very expensive place, especially on big cities like Tokyo. Tokyo is one of the world's most expensive cities after all, even more expensive than London, Paris, and New York.
Japan should be a nice place to visit were it not of the high costs of staying there.
I hope i could go to Japan because my son is working in Tokyo.
About the thumbs down, not me.
Someone should do an analysis on thumbs up thumbs down in yahoo answers. It sure stupefies me how some people vote.

I think Japan is a great destination except for the fact that it is a heck of an expensive place to visit and many Asian travellers from your mentioned countries would probably have to mortgage their homes or save for years before they can even think of holidaying there.
I had seen many beautiful scenes of Japan and will like to travel there at least one time. My friends who had been there do re-visit, so Japan is not that bad a tourist destination at all.

Talking about expensive, as I know from my friends, it does get pretty expensive in the big cities, but once you are out in the country, the prices are more reasonable. So maybe a case if ignorance on the part of those people who had been thumbing down Japan questions.

Fact is, if you look at Japan category on Yahoo Answer, you find many foreigners asking and answering there, more than Japanese themselves.
