Phuket or Pattaya?

Can't decide which one to go to! Which is better in terms of beaches, food, atmosphere, shopping etc?

If you are a girl. I suggest Phuket, Both are good, Phuket is an Island with many beaches to choose from,and easy to get around,, More expensive than Pattaya.
If you are a single man,,, "Defyiently " Pataya, for reasons that you will find out about when you get there

Both r Good places and worth to visit however i will say PUKHET
If u'd like to have the better choices for beaches,fresh sea food , atmosphere u should go to Phuket,but more expensive.

And the place for shopping u should go to the capital "Bangkok",where can have many type and very cheap,too.
I personally very much like Pattaya which offers relaxed beach chairs, nice sea breeze, easy & cheap shopping, and good food. It also has a bizzare night life and to some people it might be offending. Beach itself is beautiful white sand but the water is somewhat polluted and not clear. I can enjoy so much "Thainess" by all means in Pattaya. Phuket offers beautiful water but is boring to me. It is just a tourist destination with beach and some ocean activities though, if this is your first time to visit Thailand, I recommend Phuket.
I would say Pattaya. Phuket was destroyed by the Tsunami, but before that it was a mecca for old foriegn men seeking prostitutes. It is a very sleazy city. If you are looking for a more positive atmosphere I would highly reccommend staying away from Phuket. I've been there, and I liked some things about it..but it was very dirty and there was almost no street safe from the plague of prostitution.
