Going to guam, any hostels, and whats the best things to see? |
Travel Info any hostels in guam, or is it all hotels there? what are the best sites to see? Travel Tips I lived on Guam for two years. There are no hostels that I'm aware of. You'll have to stay in a hotel, and believe me, it won't be cheep. You'll need to rent a car too. (The roads are incredibly slick when wet so be extremely careful.) Be incredibly careful in the Southern portion of the island and avoid groups of local men who have been drinking. Crime is a very serious issue on Guam with much of it being directed toward tourists who are unlikely to come back to testify. Virtually nothing is made on Guam. All "souvenirs" have to be imported. Don't worry too much about the large packs of feral dogs that roam the island. While some might be very aggressive, Guam is a rabies free island. (All the feral animals make for very impressive road kill.) Check out the War In The Pacific museum, Two Lovers Point and the Latte Stones downtown. Read about Guam's news in the Pacific Daily News... http://www.guampdn.com Others The sites are everywhere. It is a tropical delight. The fishing, snorkling, scenery and friendly people there are great. You can even go for a wild bore hunt, I did. I stay on one of the bases; but there are plenty of hotels there to stay in too. You might check one of the search engines for hostels if that is where you are wanting to stay. Good Luck and have a great trip. Cheers. well im from guam...im on guam.now...well. Hafa Adai! (hello in Chammoru) and welcome to almost Guam Guam has more Inafa Maolek(hospitality) than any other island there is... hotels... stay at the Outrigger Guam Resort located in Tumon. spectacular view from the 10th floor up.pools and entertainment...by the band "Those Two Guys"(bobby and dennis) at the Bambu Bar in the lobby. Palm Cafe is buffets all the way. Stay at the 20th and 21st floors and enjoy the VIP Voyagers Club...a whole view. The Outrigger is connected to the "PLAZA"...the ultimate shopping resort, and right across is TGI Fridays and McD's. All rooms come with a brunch pass for the guests. Room service and wake up calls are always availible. The "Trolley"...look out for a red bus that has a turtle on it...it'll take you to the shopping venues...MicroMall..Kmart.Guam Premium Outlet...and more. Check out: Asan Memorial Park Two Lovers Point Skinners Plaza Latte Stone Park The Natural Inarajan Swimming Pool Gun Beach Isla Ranch and Gardens Jeff's Pirate Cove and more.... bring shades and hat... guam doesn't get any lower than 85*. hope i helped.and welcome i live here....dunce. Hi. I live here as well. I'd say you'd want to avoid the young idiots that have been drinking (isn't it like that everywhere?) but the older guys are cool, even if you are haole (outsider) they've been around longer and are immeasurably wiser than their children. No hostels here that I know of. And yeah there are lots to do! How long are you staying? You can't experience Guam in all it's glory in two weeks! Thats all I have to say! lol Best thing to do is make friends here, then you get invited to aaaallll the fiestas, nobenas, christenings, all the good beaches, basically all the real island culture, otherwise you will just be seeing a tourist's destination. The shopping sucks here though they try to make it look glamorous, its basically because most tourists are from Asia and you get U.S. brands here so it's different. But yeah, take my advice, make some friends because Guam would be incredibly boring otherwise! I'm the local dude that likes to stare. |
