Tourist boats on the Mekong River - Laos?

Travel Info
i'm planning to go to Laos end of september beginning of october and need to know if the tourist boats will be running at this time... all information i find implies that they will be but i can't find a definitive answer.
also relating to boats on the Mekong - any tips and advice in terms of catching one.... and if necessary catching a standard slow boat if a tourist boat is not available?
thanks for you help and any web sites that you can point me to relating to the subject.

Travel Tips
Yes they should have boats running. If not you can give someone about $15 US and hire a boat and have it all to your self.

See link. Says it's a joint Lao/New Zealand venture. Includes a telephone number. Enjoy your trip.

Most everything runs year round in Southeast Asia. It gets a little cold in the north of Vietnam in the winter; but not like in Chicago. It stays decent year round. Have a good trip and don't forget to include Vietnam in your travels in SE Asia too, quite rewarding. Cheers.
