Are the Electric plugs/outlets in China, Thailand and Vietnam the same as they are in America? |
Travel Info Or will I need to get a converter? If so, which kind? Travel Tips no they are slanted like their eyes Others No not even close! You will need a converter/s - the packaging will tell you where the converters will work. no, you will need a converter because the rest of the world uses 220volt power. The US is one of the few countries. And the plugs are different, you may need adapters to fit into the converter. Been living overseas for 13 years you can get the plug converter for under $5 from Fry's or radio shack. You might also want to get a surge protection, electricity there can be unstable. Vietnam use plug A & C, Thailand problably use same plug as vietnam, but i'm not sure. Of course! Isn't the whole world trying to be just like America? Most of the outlets in Vietnam can accept two prong North American AC plugs. Some of the older houses and buildings only have the Asian sockets, and you will need a plug converter. You can get plug converters just about anywhere that sells electronics. I would recommend using the APC brand. They're much better built, more rugged and you're going to need that to deal with Vietnam's constantly fluctuating power grid. Following is a link to that item: http://apc.com/resource/include/techspec... You should also consider getting a power converter. Vietnam's AC power is 220 VAC @ 50hz , while North American is 110 VAC @ 60hz. You will fry your electronics if your equipment cannot handle Vietnam's AC power. |
