Honeymooning in Tahiti: What can make it the best memory possible?

Travel Info
My lovely fiancee and I are looking forward to her lifelong dream of a trip to Tahiti--and it's for our honeymoon! We've never been before. What are some of the must see's and must avoid's? What's it like? What can I do to make it the best trip EVER for her?!

Thanks!

Travel Tips
Well, first of all...I would avoid Tahiti. Tahiti is the "hustle and bustle" of French Polynesia. I would plan only a few (2) days in Papeete at the beginning or end of your trip, and then consider going to one of the other islands like Mo'orea or Bora Bora.

I have just returned from a 1 week long vacation in Mo'orea. If your fiancee really wants to see Tahiti proper, the good news is that Mo'orea is only 17 miles from Tahiti, and you can take the ferry across any time you like.

If you are truly looking for that South Seas, Bali Hai type experience...go for Mo'orea. It is a quiet island, VERY romantic. We stayed at the Sheraton Mo'orea Resort, and got an overwater bungalow, and it was marvelous. The service was excellent, the views spectacular. The mountains plunge from the sky into the sea, and the lagoons are sparkling blue. The water is VERY warm and the atmosphere romantic.

We went at the end of April and had no rain through the entire week. One tip, do not go from November to March...it is the rainy season and it will rain almost every day in the afternoon. It is also quite hot and muggy. It will always be warm and humid, but that time of year is the worst.

Don't expect nightclubs on Mo'orea...it is quiet and romantic. It offers great restaurants and great hotels. Bora Bora is similar, but a little more developed. People say that Bora Bora is like Hawaii 20 years ago...if that is true, then Mo'orea is Hawaii like 50 years ago.

One other note...any island you go to is going to be EXPENSIVE. We were traveled on the shoulder season, and the hotel was $600+ a night, and meals were $150-200+ daily for two people.

It was totally worth it...
