Im going to thailand, cambodia, laos and vietnam. where do i get a visa? can i just get all of them at once? |
Travel Info well, i think the title says it all: i just dont want to have to sit around and wait for a visa while im in asia. I have an american passport and am currently in germany. i dont know where to go to get a visa in advance and if i print something out or what. ive just heard that it's really a pain to do it all from there. I dont want to fly into all the other countries...but rather just cross the borders in a bus or something? any recommendations? Travel Tips nooooooooooo you can go to theis embassys Others You can get visas prior to your trip through each countries embassy websites or you can get them at each countries international airports.....If you get caught in these countries without a visas your in for hell. And NO! you must get seperate visas for each country.... If you go to Thailand first, you can get it all done there because there should be an embassy for those countries, but I don't know how long it would take. I've heard that it's pretty simple and pretty quick. good luck! Why don't you just get the visas done from where you bought your air tickets. Most travel agents provide this service, one stop, no hassle. By the way, you don't need a visa into Thailand. Or, you can try to get your visas done in a travel agency in Thailand. Farrington American Express Travel (it's worldwide) has these kind of services. All you have to do is pay a wee bit more. You don't need a Visa for Thailand but you have to make sure your passport is still valid 6 months beyond the intended lenght of stay. As for Vietnam: I think it is best to order a Visa in Germany. I did it twice in Holland. Usually, you have to go the embassy and leave your passport and pick it up the next week. You can also send it to the embassy and they'll send it back to you within a week. I did that twice, I was a bit scared about losing my passport but everything went fine. You can -and have to- buy a Cambodian Visa at the airports of Siem Reap and Phnom Penh and at the bordercrossings. There is nothing to it, it costs about 20 US dollars. The same with a Laotian visa: you can buy it at the airports of Vientiane and Luang Prabang and at the border crossing from Thailand to Laos (Friendship Bridge). It costs 35 US dollars. I hope this helps, I wish you a wonderful stay! The best sources for visa information are the embassies of the countries you want to visit. They provide the most up-to-date info. I did a web search for "Vietnam Embassy" and the others. The web site provides current information on visa requirements, costs and services. Countries change visa requirements, etc. Be sure you are up to date before you leave. Copy and paste: Cambodia - http://www.embassyofcambodia.org/consula... , Thailand - http://www.thaiembdc.org/index.htm... , Vietnam - http://www.vietnamembassy-usa.org/travel... , Laos - http://www.laoembassy.com/ If you have the money hire a visa service to get visas required in advance. I've been to Vietnam 5 times, Thailand 4. Hope to go to Cambodia and Laos this year. Your Vietnam Tour Guide http://www.yourvietnamtourguide.com/... Good Luck, DHZ |
